ABSTRACT
It is shown that
when simultaneously validated Anthurium sect. Schizoplacium
(Schott) Engl. and Anthurium sect. Dactylophyllium
(Schott) Engl. are treated as synonyms, which molecular studies support,
the former has nomenclatural priority. A brief review of their historical usage
is given. Pothos palmatus
L., the basionym of Anthurium palmatum (L.) Schott which is the lectotype species of
sect. Schizoplacium, is here lectotypified. Anthurium kunthii
Poepp., the lectotype species of sect. Dactylophyllium, is here neotypified.
