ABSTRACT

A new species, Anthurium amplexispathum (section Xialophyllium), is described from the lower montane wet forests of eastern slopes of the Andes in Caquetá Department of Colombia. This terrestrial herb is distinguished from closely related species (A. pulchellum Engl., A. terracola Croat, and A. gracilipedunculatum K.Krause) by its cataphylls persistent intact in the upper nodes and fibrous in the lower, oblong-elliptic to ovate leaf blades with 9–12 primary lateral veins arising at angle 30–50° and long spadix stipes.
