Ramon da Pena & Thomas B. Croat

 

BACKGROUND

Due to an unfortunate oversight, Anthurium variabile da Pena & Croat was published in a recent article describing some new Panamanian Anthurium species (da Pena & Croat, 2024). The name is an illegitimate later homonym of Anthurium variabile Kunth (1841: 81) [now considered a synonym of A. pentaphyllum (Aubl.) G.Don, var. pentaphyllum]. A new name for it is validated here.
